This makes me maddest of all: that people who are cruel and apathetic escape life unharmed while those that care, care too much you might say, are nearly always destroyed.

You could argue that those that care ultimately have the benefit of having cared, while those that are violent and cruel never truly live, and I agree with that to some extent...

But what kind of a sick, twisted society do we live in, that caring is dangerous and potentially soul-threatening and apathy is expected and safe?

It makes me so sad, to watch those people, those people that care, end up destroyed emotionally because they cared too much...
